WHY CROSS EXCHANGE?

Cross Exchange is exciting new platform in the work exchange market.

A work exchange is a mutually-beneficial agreement between a host and volunteer: the host welcomes the volunteer into their home (providing room and board, in most instances), and the volunteer accomplishes an agreed upon amount of volunteer-work in exchange. No money trades hands.

Cross Exchange is a work exchange that is uniquely Christian: our platform has been built from the ground-up to foster and develop genuine connections between Christians around the world.

Cross Exchange International is a platform that helps volunteers and hosts connect. We don’t get in the way of your travels - you make the arrangements, you volunteer, and you grow connections with the global body of Christ. But we’re not aloof either: we are happy to provide advice and answer questions. Make sure to check out our FAQs , resources, and feel free to contact us.

STEP 1

Make Sure Cross Exchange is Right For You

Cross Exchange is designed for hosts who are interested in sharing their Christian faith with their volunteers. All hosts are required to agree to our Statement of Faith and Terms & Conditions.

STEP 2

STEP 3

Build Your Profile

Volunteers (the travelers who’d like to come stay with you) will want to see what you’re about, including what type of volunteer work you’re looking for, what living conditions will be like, what the local area is like, and what they should expect from a stay with you. Providing clear information up front can save you lots of headache and questions from volunteers later on!

Verify Your Profile

One of the important safety features we offer is meeting each host through a video call to help confirm the legitimacy of their profile and to help hosts have a positive experience with Cross Exchange. You’ll schedule a time for a brief meeting with us when it’s convenient for you. We look forward to meeting you!

STEP 4

STEP 5

Nail Down the Details

As you begin communication with potential volunteers (i.e., guests in your own home), make sure you and the volunteer have accurate expectations. At a minimum, the dates of stay, type of volunteer tasks, amount of work, living arrangements, and household expectations should be discussed.
Check out our guide on Communicating with Potential Guests for more helpful topics to discuss.

Match With Volunteers

Once your profile is live, volunteers (again, the travelers registered with Cross Exchange) will be able to start contacting you, asking if you are available and willing to host them. Accept and decline at your discretion- timely replies are highly appreciated! Looking to initiate the conversation? You’re more than welcome to contact volunteers too!

STEP 6

BUILD CONNECTIONS & ENJOY

Unless agreed upon otherwise, the volunteer is responsible for arranging and paying for their travel to your city & country.

Not a good fit? No sweat-- the volunteer is free to leave at any time, and you can ask the volunteer to leave as well. See our guide on Navigating Volunteer-Host Relations for helpful tips.

Our mission is to provide meaningful volunteer opportunities across the globe that foster cross-cultural understanding, spiritual growth, and social impact.
